FUE Hair Transplant Regrowth Timeline
One fine morning, you wake up with the thicker, shiner, and attractive hair. This is nothing but a daydream. Have patience because good things take the time to happen. As Aristotle said, “patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” Generally, new hair will break out within three to four months after the procedure. However, it will take at least six to eight months to make any significant enhancive look to your appearance. Particularly, growth will vary patient to patient and depends on the donor. Hair transplantation is based on the principle of donor dominance that pursues the characteristics of the donor site. In general, we are providing a timeline within which most of the patients will get their desired results.
Week 1 – 2:
The first two weeks following a hair restoration surgery are the most critical period. Utmost care should be required for the newly transplanted grafts. Patients may experience swelling and redness on the forehead which will be decreased with the passage of time. Surgeon gently removes the crusts by soundly soaking the grafts, and then mildly rubbing them with a finger. For each transplanted graft, a crust will form which is the dry skin layer. By the day 10, all the crusting should be removed, and the transplanted hair will seem like a crew-cut haircut.
Week 2 – 3:
The transplanted hair will start to shed at this point, as the actual follicular units are starting to grow a new shaft. This is a usual process and has seen in almost every second patient. The shedding process is similar to the actual shaft release.
End of Month 1 – Month 2:
At this stage, patients will appear exactly as they did prior to surgery because they have been facing some hair loss. Do not bother yourself it is the part of the treatment as the follicles have entered into the resting period of their cycle. The length of the resting period can vary before they start to grow again.
Months 2 – 4:
New hair will start to grow but they will be thin at this stage as they begin to emerge from the scalp. The donor area is healing and any redness at the donor site will be all gone.
Months 5 – 9:
The most awaited moment has arrived. Patients will see a considerable amount of hair; many of these will be over 3 – 4 inches longer. At the end of this period, the hair will start to thicken up.
1 Year:
Some patients have achieved the full appearance at this point; others will take longer to emerge and increase their density and thickness. Moreover, as the hair grows longer, that provides a fuller appearance since the volume of hair is increased at the transplanted area.
At in the end, all of your efforts and patience will be paid off. Once you have the successful results, you may style it as you want to style. “Life is a long preparation for something that severs happens”
